Self injury awareness is a very important subject. Not only does this  affect adolescents, it also affects thousands of adults. 

Self injury isn't about getting attention. It's about someone suffering and having no means of coping, thus the person takes it out on themselves through various harmful behaviors including cutting, burning, etc.

Self injury is no laughing matter and can kill.

As a survivor of self injury myself, I wanted to give back to the community by creating this beautiful tutorial from a kit I requested from Purple's Kreationz. Thank you so much Purple for creating such a beautiful kit for an important cause!

This tutorial was written by me on March 17th, 2012 and is my own creation. 

Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP Version used: PSP9, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies:

Tube of choice. I am using the sexy work of Ismael Rac, a PTU artist. You must purchase his work and obtain a license number to use his work. You can purchase his work here. 

FTU kit Self Injury Awareness by Purple's Kreationz. You can download it from her blog. 

Mask 34 by Tonya's Temptations. You can download this mask from her blog. 

Font of choice. I am using Over the Rainbow, which can be found at DaFont.com.

Filters:

EyeCandy4000 Gradient Glow

Ok let's get started.

Open frame PK-SHA-F1. Resize by 80%, resize all layers unchecked.

Open paper PK-SHA-P6. Minimize for now.

Set your foreground to null and your background color to pattern and select the orange paper, angle 0, scale 100. With the preset shapes ellipse tool, draw out a circle that is slightly larger than the inside of your frame. Convert to raster layer.

Open your mask and paper PK-SHA-P12. Minimize your mask. 

Copy and paste paper 12 and paste as a new layer. Move this layer below your orange paper layer. Apply your mask and merge group.

Open element PK-SHA-DOODLE2. Copy and paste as a new layer. Image, duplicate, mirror, and flip. Arrange so that both peek out slightly. See my tag for reference. Merge these two layers together.

EyeCandy4000 Gradient Glow. In the basic tab, 3, 25, 100. In the color tab, select the fat preset.

Open PK-SHA-FLOWER4 and PK-SHA-FLOWER5. Resize both by 60%. Copy and paste FLOWER5 as a new layer. Move to the top layer and place on the upper right side of your frame. Duplicate and move slightly up on the frame.

Copy and paste FLOWER4 as a new layer. Move so it sits inbetween the 2 flowers.

Merge the two orange flowers together and drop shadow. Add a drop shadow to the final flower and merge with the other flowers.

Open element PK-SHA-CHARM. Copy and paste as a new layer. Move this layer below your flower layers and place just so the charm itself is below the flowers and the links are hidden by the flowers.

Open your tube. With this tube there are many variations of colors for the clothing. I duplicated the clothing layer and set the duplicate layer's blend mode to multiply. Hide all layers but the layers for the tube that you want to use. Copy merged and paste as a new layer. Move this layer below your frame.

Select all, float, defloat. Do not deselect. 

On your frame layer, use your eraser tool to erase the frame on your tube's head. Keep selected.

On your flowers layer, delete any part that covers your tube. Deselect.

Open element PK-SHA-LACE2. Copy and paste as a new layer. Move to the bottom of your frame. See my tag for reference.

On your orange paper layer, select all, float, defloat. On your lace layer, selections, invert and press the delete key on your keybaord. Deselect.

Open element PK-SHA-BOOKS. Copy and paste as a new layer move this layer to the top. Place in the lower left hand side of your frame.

Open element PK-SHA-BAG. Resize by 90%. Copy and paste as a new layer. Move this layer under your books layer and move to the lower left side of your frame so that it sits behind the books.

Open element PK-SHA-GLITTERMESS. Rotate right 45 degrees so that it is straight across. Copy and paste as a new layer, move above the books and place over the books.

Open element PK-SHA-RIBBOW3. Copy and paste as a new layer. Move this layer below the glittermess and to the bottom. See my tag for reference.

Open element PK-SHA-CANDLES. Copy and paste as a new layer. Move this layer above the glittermess and place on the right of the tag.

Add drop shadows to the layers of your choice.

Add your name, copyright info and license number.

Merge visible and save as a .png.
